The 3rd graders recently welcomed Mrs. Nancy Lacorte of the Franklin Township Food Bank to their classroom to talk about "Neighbors helping Neighbors" right here in our own community. They learned the Food Bank is opening a warehouse on Churchill Avenue and that they will now allow those in need to come shop for their own groceries.
The third graders got a glimpse of why some people don't have enough food to eat, whether it be a temporary reason such as a house fire that displaced them or loss of job or homelessness. They learned that area grocery stores contribute items on a weekly basis, but still there is so much more that is needed.
The third graders have committed to helping their neighbors by running a food drive all year in their classrooms. Feel free to help them by sending in non-perishable items and they will make sure they get to the food bank. If you are unable to donate, please help those in need by remembering them in your prayers.
